Friends, Inc. is a non-profit, interfaith organization bringing together volunteers from all faiths to serve patients facing serious illness and disabilities. We provide comprehensive training and coordination to ensure our volunteers deliver effective, heartfelt support that helps patients maintain their dignity and independence.
It is our mission to provide support to patients with serious illnesses and disabilities, enabling them to maintain their independence through caring volunteers.
Our Patients
Friends, Inc. serves patients of all ages throughout Huntsville and Madison County—including those in private homes, nursing facilities, assisted living centers, and hospitals. Many of our patients face financial challenges, from everyday budget constraints to those who fall below the poverty line.
While our patient population is primarily elderly, we provide support to anyone with:
- Serious illnesses, such as
- Cancer
- Parkinsons
- Physical disabilities, such as
- Blindness
- Wheelchair bound
Our patients come to us through referrals from a variety of trusted partners:
- Physicians
- Home health workers
- Social workers
- 211 Connect
- Cancer centers
- Referrals from the community, family members and current patients
What sets Friends Inc. apart is our commitment to personalized care and the strong relationships we build with our patients. Unlike similar services, we take the time to understand each patient's unique needs and tailor our support accordingly. This personalized approach fulfills our goal of ensuring that our patients receive compassionate assistance.
Many times, our volunteers wait with our patients for test results that can be life altering, such as a diagnosis of cancer or the recurrence of cancer.
